In tough times, the Blues have continually been a national resource for fighting our troubles with creativity, humor and good times.  One band that is fighting the blues with the blues this summer is Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown, when they return to the historic Opera House main stage on Saturday, July 20th at 8 pm.

Kim Simmonds, founder of the legendary British Blues band, Savoy Brown, ranks among the all-time greatest guitar players.  This special show will feature the band with stand up bass instead of electric to bring that fantastic sound into the incredible acoustics of the 1892 hall!  Kim Simmonds & Savoy Brown is generously sponsored by WAER-FM.

“One of the earliest of British blues bands, Savoy Brown, with founder guitarist Kim Simmonds at the helm, helped launch the 1967 UK blues boom movement that brought blues music back to the USA invigorating the style forever. In the process, the band became part of the framework that launched the rock and roll music of the 1970’s. Their influence now stretches into modern rock as we know it today.”

The multi-talented Kim Simmonds is a painter and will also exhibit his paintings at the Earlville Opera House Arts Café Gallery in “Kim Simmonds on Canvas” from July 20 to September 21.  Simmonds: “Painting is another way for me to improvise…another way for me to channel my artistic energy other than through the guitar.”  A Meet and Greet with Kim Simmonds will be from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on the evening of the performance.  Simmonds is donating a painting to be raffled in support of the EOH Galleries.
