The MAYBELLES are a harmony driven band based in Brooklyn and comprised of guitar, fiddle and upright bass. JAN BELL fronts the band and writes much of their music. She hails from coal mining country in Yorkshire, England. She came to NYC as a student teacher; fell in love with the folk festival realm and life on the American road. Today, she teaches songwriting classes at Jalopy Theater, Brooklyn, NY and has won several Awards in that sphere. Bell’s music mines the Appalachian/Celtic/Old time country sound. Festival highlights include Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival NY; The International Bluegrass Music Awards (IBMA); and the Ozark Folk Festival (AR). The 12th Annual Independent Music Awards announces her CD ‘Dream of the Miner’s Child’ is a nominee for BEST CONCEPT ALBUM. More about the Maybelles at http://janbellmusic.com/the_maybelles.html
