The Earlville Opera House is pleased to host an evening with rock legends Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin, backed by their powerhouse band the Guilty Ones, Friday September 2 at 8 PM. The evening will also feature special guest Sarah Borges.
As the founders of ‘80s roots band the Blasters, Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin spearheaded the new embrace of American music traditions ranging from blues to rockabilly to country. Reuniting after nearly 30 of solo and side-projects, the GRAMMY-nominated duo’s electric chemistry sizzles on stage as they perform everything from original troubadour ballads to classic soul covers, backed by their powerhouse band the Guilty Ones.
Raised by music fans, the brothers immersed themselves in blues, rockabilly, and vintage country sounds, collecting rare records and attending nightclub performances. Like many fans, Dave and Phil wanted to play music influenced by sounds they loved, they formed the Blasters; combining the revved-up energy of punk rock with an enthusiastic embrace of classic American sounds, the Blasters became a sensation in Los Angeles and won an enthusiastic cult following across the US and Europe.
Dave Alvin and Phil Alvin garnered a 2016 Blues Music Award nomination for Traditional Blues Male Artist, which is their second blues award nomination.
Dave and Phil perform Friday September 2. Doors open at 7:30, show begins at 8 PM.
