Arts in the Park Returns 7/13

The Arts in the Park Series returns for another season of talented musicians, ranging from jazz gems to folk roots, Thursdays on the Hamilton Village Green, free and open to the community. All performances begin at 7 PM.

This year’s series, Siren Songs, celebrates the arts and women’s contributions to the arts, as well their voices in our communities, marking the centennial of women’s suffrage in New York State, three years ahead of the rest of our nation. After a century of progress and change, the impact and power of women’s voices in our communities remain a vital contribution to our cultural experience. The five concerts are planned for Thursday evenings at 7 PM starting 7/13 and ending 8/10.

Kicking off the series July 13^th is SAMMY-award winner and local favorite Lauren Mettler. A singer-songwriter born and raised in CNY Mettler boasts a practice of delving into many different genres and cultures for insight and nuance. Her writing is evocative, empathetic, & gently explorative, inviting her audience to face their own vulnerabilities & others’ as well.

Mettler is followed by Opus Black, July 20^th. The Opus Black String Quartet is an alternative string ensemble with a penchant for the unorthodox. Built on a common foundation of classical training, their backgrounds are as diverse as their repertoire. Their mission is to educate, inspire creativity and share their love of music through alternative performance.

Next up is the dazzling Amanda Rogers on July 27^th. Often compared to Tom Waits for her literary lyrics and Carole King for her pop sensibility, CNY-native Rogers has defined her musical career as an original, independent, touring, recording artist. Rogers can boast 9 albums and multiple tours, as well as song placements on networks such as the Discovery Channel and MTV.

Carolyn Kelly Blues Band continues the series August 3^rd. A natural vocal talent, Kelly’s emotive deliveries carry an audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions form lust to scorn and everywhere in between. With a natural stage presence, Kelly embraces and involves the audience, on a very personal level, at every one of her performances.

Finally, Sheralyn Jeanne concludes the series August 10^th. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Sheralyn has picked up many styles and techniques from watching and involving herself in local bands, live shows, choirs, churches, schools, and more. After her 2016 award-winning album with Syracuse band Early Bird Trio, Wellman was quickly on her way to a solo career where she would begin to explore a new approach to the modern day singer-songwriter genre.

Performances begin at 7 PM and will take place at the bandstand on the Village Green in the center of Hamilton with a rain location at the nearby Colgate Inn on the north end of the Village Green. Both locations are wheelchair accessible.

Hamilton Arts in the Park is presented by the Village of Hamilton and co-presented by the Earlville Opera House.
